Form Letters in inDesign with iCloud Contacts?

I would like to create a form letter in Indesign and use my iCloud contacts as a source, is there a way that I don't have to import and export several times?

So far I am exporting my Contact with the App to VCF then use an online tool to convert them co CSV then I open up the CSV in Excel and epsort them into a txt with semicolon seperation, the source is then accepted but the german vowel mutations (ö,ä,ü,ß) are removed or exchanged for other letters.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you both for the useful information. I will test out the Unicode 8-UTF export as well as the way using MS Word.

Is there a reason you need to use InDesign?

If email or PDF, Microsoft Word or a program such as FileMaker Pro.

Word can access iCloud contacts and do mail merge.

FileMaker Pro would have to import the contacts into database fields.

I use it also for personalized greeting cards so I need it to work in InDesign as well.

You didn't really mention how you plan on distributing the cards, but I'm assuming via email.

You can build your card in AI, save out as a PNG, place in Word, and merge.

You can certainly do the merge in ID and export, but you will have to send separately.

Export your Contacts as a Unicode 8-UTF text file
