Formulas in InDesign

New Here ,
Sep 18, 2019 Sep 18, 2019

I'm wondering if it's possible to do calculations when creating an interactive PDF or if that needs to be done in Acrobat? I have attached a sample of the form. The user would enter column 1 & 2 and then column 3 would be automatically calculated (basic addition).

Also, some fields will be repeated later in the document, is it possible to have them automatically populated from the 1st occurance?

Thanks so much for any advice!

As Mike said, that needs to be done in Acrobat. There are some simple formulas that are easy to do in Acrobat, but depending on your formula, you may need to use JavaScript for the formula.

Yes, some fields can be duplicated later in the document and automatically populated.

Thank you for your responses. For the auto-populate, is this set up in Acrobat as well? I'd like to do as much as possible in InDesgn

Hello, I found that if you place this script into your scripts folder then access it through the scripts window, it does the job.

@Adobe, how is this not a standard function? If excel and word can do it... you should be able to also!
