Frequent Crashes in InDesign Following CC and macOS Sequoia Updates

Hello, yesterday I updated my creative cloud apps, I also updated my MacBook Pro to Sequoia.

Ever since I have not been able to load most of my documents.

Indesign crashes while loading most of the times, and when sometimes it does load, than it goes on the spinning wheel as soon as I try to open any document. I have to force quit every time.

I have already removed Indesign 2025 and installed Indesign 2024, problem stays. I have opened it with shift+control+option+command, problem stays, I have tried every possible version of Indesign, the problem occurs with every version. I seem to have simular issues with Illustrator also.

The only other option I see is downgrading the iOS again, but thats the last thing i want to do, anyone has other options?

Thanks a lot!

Hello Abhishek,

We removed adobe fonts and put it back on, then we could use adobe 2024, not the last version.

But we could still not open a lot of our documents, we tried it now with your tip: [Resolving crashes due to corrupt text frames](https://adobe.ly/4fqTGw2) and now we could open it :-).

So we hope the biggest problems are resolved now. thanks a lot!!

Hello @Pieter Puype,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind sharing more details, like whether InDesign behaves this way when opening files from a specific folder location? If yes, kindly try moving the files to a local folder, like the desktop, and then try opening them to see if it helps.

Additionally, check if InDesign has Full-Disk access under macOS preferences (https://adobe.ly/3YGx17Y) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello Anubhav,

Thanks for your fast respond.

Unfortunately your 2 advices did not help.

I send you 3 pictures:

Here I tried to open Indesign2025, I crashed soon, in this picture you see on which point it crashed
Force quit I had to do again
I opened Indesign again, now it worked, I replaced one of my documents to desktop, I tried to open it, but immediately it crashed again, you see the turning ball…
Although Indesign isn’t opened again, I keep getting the message that Indesign had to be closed, that I find very weird.

Is there any other option I can try?

Thanks,

Pieter

Just a shot in the dark: try to close ALL other apps, then open InDesign. Will it make a difference?

  3. Have you had the chance to submit a crash report when InDesign fails? If so, please share the report details if you have them available. Reference: https://adobe.ly/4fz8AA8
  4. Lastly, could you provide the Adobe email address you are using with the application?

Hello Andy,

So sorry you are experiencing this.

We checked a lot of adobe community pages with similar problems: we tried everything, but then we choose this advice: we removed adobe fonts, we also changed the language, then we were finally able to use adobe 2024, we were not able to use a newer version. I don't know if changing the language did anything, I put our own language again and it still works.

Some document still didnt open, they kept crashing indesign,

some files we had to make all over again, but then we got this tip here: [Resolving crashes due to corrupt text frames](https://adobe.ly/4fqTGw2) and then we could open alle the files again :-).

It hasnt given problems ever since.

I hope this helps for you. Let me know if this is helpfull and if I could do anything else for you,

Pieter
