Garamond fonts missing in my new InDesign

Dear Adobe Specialists,

I just got a new MacBook Pro and new associated Adobe programs (InDesign version 12.1.0.56). I have migrated all my files from my old MacBook Pro including hundreds of InDesign files in which I have always used the "Garamond" font. For some reason, the new InDesign do not have these and replace them with some other fonts, which means that ALL MY OLD FILES ARE USELESS, because the text no longer fit in size etc.

Please can someone tell me how I can still use Garamond fonts from my previous InDesign version in my new InDesign version.

    The files that you were using on your old computer were most likely actually installed and activated on that computer and InDesign was only reading them from wherever they were installed. The simplest thing would be to do a search (Command-F while you're on the desktop) for "Garamond" and follow the trail on that computer as to where they actually exist as well as finding out how they were installed. There are several ways that fonts could have been installed including through a font utility such as FontExplorer or Apple's native Font Book. First thing would be to find your actual fonts and then figure the best way to install them.     If the old computer is still fully functional, the simplest thing would be to have InDesign show the location of these fonts. Open any document, choose "Find font..." in the Type menu, then select the font and click "Reveal in Finder".

    (This function still works on a Mac; alas, it got broken on recent Windows machines.)

    Or…file>package which will put all the fonts into their own document fonts folder.

      Two choices.

      Most Adobe Graramond Pro styles are available via Typekit or find your old computer and copy them from there.

      Thanks a lot. How do I copy them from the old computer? Where do I find these files? and what are they called?
