Hi Folks

I found this post addressing my issue of generating QR codes without the padding. However, the problem in INDD2025 now is that the padding vary depending on the amount of information.

Is this a bug? Can it be prevented?

Hi @tom.jaeger,

Thank you for sharing the details.

I have reproduced the issue on my end as well. Yes, the padding around the QR code is indeed getting more complex depending on the amount of information entered into the code. This seems to be an unintended behavior in InDesign 2025, where the padding automatically adjusts based on the data provided, which might not be ideal in some cases.

We are also checking this internally with the product team for more insights on whether this is expected behavior or if there are potential solutions in the works.

Unfortunately, at the moment, there isn't a direct way to fully control or eliminate this padding. However, I recommend submitting a feature request through UserVoice, where the team monitors requests for future improvements. You can also follow this thread for further updates on this issue.

Let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with!

Best,
Abhishek Rao

Hi @tom.jaeger ,

thanks for this thread!

That's really bad news.

I still have to check, if different padding is with QR code creation with my German InDesign 2025. But I take your word for this. I'll come back after testing this. I have no idea if there is an easy solution for the problem.

Thanks,

I'll concede it's desirable to have codes generated in some identical, consistent overall pattern, but I don't really see this as "really bad news" or even quite a "problem" per se.
