You'll need to contact Adobe Customer Care for this kind of a question:
It cannot be handled on a public forum.

Steve, Adobe Customer Care only gives me these forums to communicate with... no chat or phone call avail for me.
Any other suggestions?

You didn't indicate where and how you initially licensed the InDesign CS6 software from (Adobe directly via Adobe's website, a third party, eBay, what?) That having been said, there have been term licenses sold, often in corporate and academic environments (and often with the recipients not told about those limits by the organizations that obtained those licenses from Adobe). In some cases, vendors who are not Adobe Authorized Resellers have been known to illegally sell pirated or “unbundled” serial numbers from bulk, volume licenses designed for use within a corporation. When such serial number use is discovered, Adobe may deactivate any users using such products activated with same. That might be the issue or perhaps some system glitch. But this has to be resolved by Adobe Customer Care.

So, I'm not crazy (about this topic anyway).
Thanks, Dov.

InDesign CS6 is not officially supported by Adobe running under El Capitan or Sierra. Some seem able to, others have issues.
It's probably best for you to take out a subscription to InDesign CC2015/2017.

Doesn't" the message mean that my license has been revoked?

I doubt it, but where did you get it from (it might be a pirated copy or something)?
Best to check with Adobe. This forum only offers peer to peer support for using the application.

I downloaded the software from my account here and got the serial number from my account here.
Hopefully one of these "peers" has had a similar occurrence and will be willing to share their experiences.

Wasn't there a bunch of educational licenses that were time limited a while back?

Don't know about that, Bob, I've had my license for years!
