Gotham otf font not recognized in CC

When opening an InDesign CC file that is using Gotham otf fonts in CC, Gotham otf fonts show as 'missing' (pink block). Going to 'Find Fonts' doesn't show the otf version of Gotham. If I 'Export' that CC file as IDML, open it in CS5.5, go to 'Find Fonts', I can change the font to the otf version, re-save as a CS5.5 file, then drag that file into CC it is fine, no missing font issues. Does anyone know what I can do to get the original CC file to work without having to go through all these extra steps?

Try putting the errant font into the Adobe InDesign CC [your version] > Fonts folder. On a Mac that would be in the Applications folder. Don't know Windows well enough to tell you where the InDesign folder is located.

I had a horrible time with the Gotham Font not showing up in the drop down menu so I could replace the font.

I finally dropped the Customer font folder into they Library   Fonts   on my hard drive.  Now, the font is finally recognized.

    Hi Ross,

Here's the path of InDesign Fonts folder on a Windows machine: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CC 2018\Fonts

    Regards,
