GRACOL 2006 versus newer icc profiles

Community Expert ,

Hi all,

Why doesn't Photoshop and InDesign 2024 have newer icc profiles to use?

When setting up color management, they still offer GRACOL 2006, for example.

In 2024, what are the favored RGB and CMYK colorspace icc profiles for color management?

What do most commercial printers recommend?

And where does one acquire better icc profiles if Adobe CC apps don't install them?

It's been a while since I paid much attention to general 4C profiles and such, but my impression (that's a joke, son, a joke) is that they tend to have very long lifespans, and/or that newer ones are adopted slowly across the industry,.

Process color is, after all, an extremely mature industry, and doesn't need to rejigger everything on an annual basis. Once a major build of a press is put into operation, the color profile it uses tends to be stable until some major overhaul.

Or so I think I kind of sorta understand it.

Today I was wondering why the GRACOL 2006 is still included, yet the GRACOL 2013 is in popular use in the real-world. Why isn't that included in the box?

Are their other coated and uncoated profiles that have become more popular in recent years?
