Hello everybody!
I would like to know how to apply the gray scale effect in images in indesign. I didn't find any resource to do this. Always I want to do it I necessarily have to open the Illustrator and make it through it to send to Indesign.
Someone knows if Indesign has this tool?
Well, strictly speaking, "grayscale" isn't an "effect," it's a color space. And no, InDesign has no feature for converting an image to the grayscale color space. Photoshop is the correct tool for that.

First of All, Sorry for being repetitive and thanks so much in advance, but I really need some help.
I'm doing a job for a black and white newspaper. How do I change the image to black and white? I need to send it to print and it must be black and white. How can I do it? They use CMYK. As I see, its not possible on the INDESIGN, but I couldnt find the way in PHOTOSHOP.

There are more artful techniques for desaturating an image than simply converting, but to simply convert: with the image open in Photoshop, choose Image > Mode > Grayscale.

InDesign doesn’t have a grayscale color space—you create gray output values by using tints of the [Black] swatch.
You can convert the appearance of color images to grayscale via the Effects panel, and then make the actual conversion to a black only grayscale when you export to PDF. This technique is limited in that it doesn't allow you to color correct the gray values—for that you have to edit in Photoshop’s Grayscale Mode.
First set your document’s Transparency Blend Space to RGB, and make sure the image’s parent frame’s fill is set to [Black]. Also make sure you Appearance of Black Export Preference is set to Rich Black.
With the image selected (not its parent frame), set its Blending Mode to Luminosity:
Export using the PDF/X-4 preset with a gray profile set as the Output destination. For newsprint the ideal would be to use a newsprint Black Ink profile, but if you are not familiar with Black Ink profiles use the 25% or 30% Dot Gain profile:
The exported PDF will be Process Black only:

I agree with handling this in Photoshop, but there is a plug-in that you can try for InDesign. If you like it, you can purchase it for about US$ 60.

There are multiple avenues in Photoshop. Here are a few Photoshop resources, but I recommend asking on the Photoshop forum. https://community.adobe.com/t5/Photoshop/bd-p/photoshop
