About your third thread with variable, you just need 2 variables based on char styles! One for the ´normal ' text and one for the 'superscript'.
The trick is to add a space at the end at the end of the para with the superscript char style when you don't have a superscript in the header! Of course, that means the superscript is here always at the end of the para!
