Is there a way to load up a group of settings for Guides/Grids/Extras?
For example, if I'm just checking for spelling/typography it is often easier to have this:
normal screen mod
baseline grid off
text threads off
frame edges hidden
etc. etc. etc.
Is there some way to save that as a set so you can then recall it?
These settings seem to be saved with the document itself, so even if you set it up once, if you're checking 20 documents you have to set this up 20 times.
I can't help but think that I've overlooked something, and if this exists I'm probably using the wrong words to search for it in the forums!
I imagine something like that could be scripted. You might want to pop over to the scripting forum and ask there.

Hi Bob,
thanks for your quick answer. What's important to me is that I can stop looking in the forums for how to do this - it isn't built in!
I've just found I can do this fairly reliably with QuicKeys, using some careful setting for dealing with the way InDesign handles menus (if it doesn't find "Hide baseline grid" then that means it's probably hidden already, etc.).

Is preview mode not suitable for what you're looking to do?

Not really. Preview doesn't show dynamic spelling, for example.

Ah, okay. Well, check out the scripting option.
