Have Old Editions on my Hard Drive and I'm Almost Out of Disk Space

Help!  I am rapidly running out of disk space on my computer and need to delete old junk. So imagine my surprise when I went into my Applicatons folder and found not one, not two, but three different editions of InDesign and two diffecnt editions of PhotoShop on my computer. No wonder I'm running out of disk space!!

I thought Adobe automatically wrote over the old editions when I updated. I guess I'm just not tech savvy enough, but back when I used to buy my software in a box it would, as I recall, write over the old editon when I installed the new edition.

So, what do I do now?  I'm rapridly running out of disk space! I want those old versions gone! I tried looking up how to get rid of them, but the artlices all begin by saying I have to do such and such in Windows. Hello! I'm a Mac user! None of these articles apply to me. I'm also an artist! I don't speak geek.

The only way I know how to "deinstall" anything is to go into the applications folder, grab the folder for the application I want to get rid of, and drag it into the trash. Howver, I'm told this doesn't work.

Sorry guys, but I'm a right-brained creative. I neither speak, nor do I understand, geek. Trying to read thise articles is very, very confusing to me and they're as clear and easy to understand as mud. Sorry, but we can't all be software engineers. Can someone, who's a Mac user, please tell me, in simple, layman's English, what to do to get rid of the outdated editions? I can't afford to buy a new computer with a bigger hard drive.

Thank you in advance for your time. I know I'm coming across as panicing, because I am starting to panic here. My apologies if I'm offfending anyone.

Assuming they are showing up in the CC app, you should see these menus, in order. If not, let us know.

Hi,

I assume you want to uninstall old versions of InDesign. And an old InDesign app could be a Creative Cloud application or a Creative Suite application. The uninstallers are waiting for you in Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers." as you can see from the screenshot in the help file I provided the link to.

There you find:

Use Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to remove entries for apps or CoreSync | macOS

[1] Back up all files stored in Adobe product directories, including custom plug-ins or profiles you have installed.

[2] To uninstall Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications, in the Finder, navigate to Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers.

[3] Double-click the application’s uninstaller.

What is the problem?

Are there no uninstallers in your Adobe Installers folder?

Hi. see into:

https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

Scroll down to section:

Use Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to remove entries for apps or CoreSync | macOS

1st WARNING: If you uninstall app versions before CC 2019 in most cases you will not be able to install them again.

And in every case you will not be able to install bug fix versions of InDesign CC 2018 and before. I can be wrong, but it seems that Adobe is not offering them anymore. Just basic installers. No bug fixes. More details here:

https://prodesigntools.com/adobe-limits-software-downloads.html

2nd WARNING: So before doing anything clone your system disk with all installed apps to an external harddisk as bootable drive so that you can get back. For this best use Carbon Copy Cloner: https://bombich.com/

What versions are we talking about--Creative Cloud (CC) versions or old Creative Suite (CS) versions? Each version--CC or CS--uninstalls differently.

Adobe will only overwrite old versions IF you tell the Creative Cloud app to.

Learning basic computer maintenance has nothing to do with "speaking geek". If you know typographic terminology such as leading, kerning, tracking, etc.--you can learn some basic computer terminology.

Do you have a hard drive attached to your Mac that you can copy old jobs to?

It's Creative Cloud. There are plenty of articles out there on how to deinstall Adobe CC. However, I wasn't looking to uninstall Creative Cloud. I just wanted to delete the older versions of the apps I was using. The versions with 2019, 2018, and so forth, and just run the 2020 versions. I could find no information out there on how to do this, nor does the Adobe "Help" menu give you the info you need.

I was finally able to get the information I needed by going on Facebook and sending Adobe a private message, but even then it took some doing on my to get the information I needed. He finally told me to open the Adobe CC app on my desktop, and then click on the three dots next to the older versions I wanted to delete and there I would find the uninstall links. Simple solution, but it was nearly impossible for me to find the information.

So why oh why isn't Adobe posting this information in their "help" menu? It would have saved me several hours of grief! Please Adobe, if you are reading this, please make this kind of information available when I do a search in the help menu. When I typed in the words, "how do I uninstall blah, blah, blah," all I got was, "no results found." Can we please make the help menu a little more user friendly? This is the kind of experience that can really ruin your day.

Thank you for your response. I really appreciate you all taking the time.
