Hi,

I imported a book file from Word, and seems that Indesign added some wierd hidden charcter, which causes tow letters or words to cross each other in pdf and print (they looks fine in Indesign),  after some resaech I think it's might be on of these thing:

Bookmark or hyperlink destination marker (often a text anchor)

Cross-referenced paragraph

Hyperlink destination (in Story Editor)

Then I tried to find it using find and change but it could not find it for some reason, so I found a script that can find it and unfutunatly there Hunders of them! so the last step is to delete them.

Is there a way to do that? the scrpit can't do it nor does find and change.

Hi AK09M,

could be the special character FEFF.

You can find that with Text Find/Change with this pattern

<FEFF>

Note: That special character is also used for other things you probably want not to remove.

Two screenshots that illustrate this:

So be careful what you do…

Thank you very much, you just save me from deleting ~ 350 one of those manually, with just 1 click.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. I agree with @Spenno. I'd also request you to check out this web article to know more about text anchors and how you can manage them.

Hope it helps.

These are text anchors. You can just leave them, they won't print or cause issues.
