HELP! Keeping Changed Appearance (Filled In Circle) of Button in Adobe PDF

Hello,

 

I am a new user when it comes to Indesign. I am trying to add interactivity to a form. In different parts of the form, there are at least 2 options when it comes to selections (buttons). I am using radio buttons throughout the form. I changed the default Normal ON button to a  black , filled in circle rather than a dot. I believe I increased the size of the dot to be a bigger circle. The Normal OFF button was left as is as a clear circle. In PDF, when a button (call this A)  is selected it is a filled in circle, however as soon as another button in a different series or set is selected (call this C), the original button (A) reverts back to a dot. Is there any way that I can let it remain a filled in circle? Otherwise, I am thinking I just have to use the default dot instead of a filled in circle. If I want to revert back to a dot, how do I do that? There is not a reset button where the Normal ON can return to a dot.

I would leave the default circle from Indesign for the radio button. Acrobat's appearance of radio buttons will supercede the appearance applied within Indesign of button anyways. And, the default appearance of a radio button in Acrobat is the circle. There will be a slight visual difference between the button viewed in each application, at least it won't be a drastic difference if you keep with the circle.

    Hello, thank you for your reply.I figured out what was wrong. My Preference, specifically Highlight Color was on so that is why the state of the buttons would revert back to the smaller dot. So I turned it off, then applied the Javascript to make sure it stays off by default. I then encountered another problem. I wanted to give the user the option of turning the selection off and on. I tried doing it with the radio buttons but they did not work. Anyone know how to do this? Anyhow, I then used a Check Box instead of a Radio Button (formatted it to not use the checkbox but a black, filled in circle) and I see that the user can now turn it off an on and within a series can choose one checkbox or the other (by ensuring they have the same name). Now, my problem is I currently have 40 of these items in my document/ form. I don't want to individually remake the 40 odd check boxes. Is there a way to convert the radio button to a check box without losing the formatting?

    Hello,

     

    I will have to get back to you about sharing the form. I have to see if it is allowed due to privacy and security restrictions. But I will explain further. The Javascript I used to ensure that if the PDF is opened by another user, the Highlight Field Color Preference is to be deselected by default (so that the filled in circle stay as is). Now, another matter. I have 40 radio buttons I initially made and I now want to convert them to check boxes. I do not want to have to remake 40 check boxes from scratch. How can I convert the radio buttons to check boxes and keep the Descriptions as well as the Button Values of the radio buttons?


    I reviewed the article that explains a method to convert radio to checkbox in Acrobat, and after reading this, I am not sure it will work. Sorry for suggesting this without testing.
