Help with blending text into photos

Hi. I'm looking for help on how to blend text into photos.

I have attached 2 photos as examples of what I'm looking for.

I only have Adobe Indesign. I do not have Photoshop or After effects.

I'd rather not turn the text into outlines as the file size would not become manageable.

Those effects cannot be created in InDesign. You would need an image editing program.

Just in case: turning text to outlines is unlikely to alter your file size significantly. Regardless, it's a moot point since as @Steve Werner already said you need an image editing app.
