Is there a way to hide a page so that it does not appear in the pages but does not delete and can be accessed?

What about to store this ghost page objects on the pasteboard? ( which is an area outside a page where you can store objects that aren't yet positioned on a page)

A whole layout page is hard to make disappear and reappear, but conditional text can be used to make the contents (including text frames) "switchable." I use conditional text all the time to manage content for dual-format books.

There isn't a feature to do exactly what you want, but you might be able to use Alternate Layouts. Basically, you can make a duped copy of your pages that are linked to the original, and then make changes to the alternate.

Interesting, I've only glanced at Alternate Layouts.

Kind of like adjustment layers for Photoshop. 🙂

IMHO, this feature was done first of all for books/magazines with different sizes. It works. Yes, it needs to have check how it works but better than parallel publications. Time is money.

Therefore, I don't see how it helps for topicstarter strange wish.

I need to look at them. I do a lot of dual- and multi-format stuff and have my box of tricks for that; this might solve a few stubborn co-format problems.

It would do what the OP wants IF the pages are self-contained--that is, no continuous text flow from the deleted pages.

If the text flow is continuous, conditional text would work.

If the content of the page is 'encapsulated' in any way (sidebar, text box etc.) it could be placed in an anchored frame that is then conditional-text switched in and out.

But as you note, the text flow would have to move up to fill the now-empty page, which might cause page numbering, chapter flow and other problems.

No single/good solution for this one. It would have to be crafted around the exact content and layout.

Yes--typically, one has to update the pagination after applying conditions in both InDesign and FrameMaker.

On the right panel all the way up to the top there is a layers panel. Did you try turning off the layer. Just a guess I am not at my computer to try. But can't hurt

Yep, move all objects to some layer and hide this layer - great idea.

Hiding the layer would still leave the page, which was the OP's original request. However, if there were no master items on the page, one could not print blank pages.

>> would still leave the page

Nobody can't restrict you to add this page later 🙂

Nevermind. Topicstarter have it few workarounds here. Just needs to choose one of it.

I believe the layer content, hidden or not, will be removed with the page removal.

Typically I would drage the page to the Parents Pages (formerly Master Pages) section and it keeps the page there for future use.

This could be a useful feature, although I could see a problem with a continuous text flow.

You might want to enter your feature at the InDesign User Voice:

https://indesign.uservoice.com/

(Search for an existing request first.)

Not sure if this helps, but turning on Overprint Preview hides Layers with Print Layer unchecked, and if you Print with Print Blank Pages unchecked you get this:
