Question

Horizontal lines across prints

Hi all,

Been having a strange issue where when printing from indesign I get these uniform lines across a page, which doesn't happen when printing outside of indesign (i.e. exporting to pdf or jpeg and then printing those).

The print from indesign is very simple, it's just one object/layer with no drop shadows or effects.

I figure this surely must be caused by the print settings within indesign overruling the default print driver settings.

Hi @Adam38356256ci5v,

Thanks so much for sharing the details so far! Could you please confirm which version of InDesign and which operating system you're using? Also, let me know if this issue happens with all your InDesign files or only with this specific one.

In the meantime, I'd recommend checking if your printer driver is fully up to date. You can visit your printer manufacturer's website to download and install the latest driver. You can also try resetting the print settings within InDesign (go to File > Print, then click Setup and check if any custom settings are overriding the defaults), or try printing to a different printer if you have one available to see if the issue still occurs.

Looking forward to your update so I can help you further!

Abhishek

Do the lines appear in exported PDFs?

Hi,

No, they don't appear within adobe reader, and still don't appear when printing from there as well.

That is the way to, export as PDF and print from there. Acrobat has a higher compatibility to more programs in aspect of printing than many programs. The problem might be solved with a new printer driver. Look if the printer provider has updates for their printers.
