How big a file can InDesign handle without bogging down and getting slow?

Specifically, can InDesign work just fine with a 220-250ish pages file (5x7 inches page size format) for a booklet with certainly some pictures and graphic elements in it, without getting slow, bogging down or unable to run properly?

Thanks, really appreciate your input on this.

That shouldn't be a problem if you have plenty of RAM and lots of spare hard disk capacity.

Remember to do Save As with a new name - at least daily - as Save alone keeps all the Undo history that bloats the size of the INDD file and slows it down.

You asking me?

Just in case anything goes wrong - power cut or something - and you'll lose your original file.

Another important issue is that you do not embed any images, link them externally.
From time to time you should save a file as IDML and open that and save as new INDD to work on with this file to get rid from unneeded data.
