How can I stop the alt key from activating the Application Bar? Windows 11

Hello,

I am using Windows 11, and when I zoom in or out with my mouse while holding alt, the Application Bar becomes highlighted.  This means that when I hit a keyboard shortcut such as "V" or "W", instead of switching to the Selection Tool or Preview Mode, the View or Window menu pops out of the Application Bar.  It means that I have to click inside the pasteboard or hit esc twice in order for the Application Bar to deactivate.  I know that doing this, clicking inside the pasteboard or hitting esc a couple of times, is a simple and small workaround, but sometimes it means I lose the process I was halfway through and also this problem doens't occur on a Mac.  I know in the grand scheme of things this is very small problem, but as I work with InDesign on Windows 11 most days it is a minor issue that is growing to irritate me!  I basically just need to find a way to ensure the alt key stops activating the Application Bar.  Are there are Windows 11 users who have the same problem and know how to fix this?  Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Thank you so much for your reply, I had a look through the link you sent me and while it does not solve my problem it's made me realise this is a Windows quirk as opposed to something that can be resolved via Adobe.  So, I'm going to keep having a look around, if I find a solution I'll post it on here in case anyone else is running into the same problem as me.

This doesn't work. I've adjusted both menus and did a reg edit and they still turn on in ID.

This is a Windows settings that has nothing to do with Adobe. In fact, it's been around before Windows existed; it started in DOS.

If you hold Control-Alt with the scroll wheel, it works without activating the menu accessibility.

After dealing with this awful issue myself forever, I finally found this file on Github: https://github.com/TaranVH/2nd-keyboard/blob/master/Taran's_Windows_Mods/Alt_menu_acceleration_DISAB...

It disables it. You have to start it every time you run Windows. I remember there is a way to get it to run on startup - the guy who developed it explains it somewhere but I can't find it now. You can also just Google that aspect of it. Even just having to open it every time Windows starts is such a relief compared to dealing with this!

Does this work in Windows 11? Because this file was released 4 years ago so I assume it was for Win 10.

My computer is a bit older so it probably is running windows 10, I hadn't thought of that. I am not sure if it works in 11 unfortunately!

I was still able to use the file I downloaded from that link I posted and it solved it, but I just checked and I am in Windows 10. I am not sure if it works in 11, but worth a try!

Did you see my suggestion: hold down Control-Alt before scrolling? Make sure you press the Cntl key a fraction of a second before the Alt.
