How do I align text so that each sentence finishes at the blue line and doesn't appear ragged?

Set to left justified ánd turn on hyphenation. Use Paragraph styles. As James said: this is so VERY very basic that, if you don't even know this, maybe learning InDesign before you even start would be a very good idea...

Set the paragraph style to use Justified justification (yes, that sounds redundant).

 

There are three variations but you want the option that keeps the last line to the left.

 

This is VERY basic stuff. You might find some tutorials on InDesign basics helpful in getting up to speed.

Yep. Sorry, I would have included some screen clips but I was on my glass keyboard. The icon you have selected there is Left Justification, which is just "Justified" in most apps and common discussion. (The two next to it, rare outsside of tools like InDesign, will center the bottom line or right-justify it, not settings many users will find of use.)
