How do I delete InDesign pages (including the content that is on them)?

Hi ---

I have a book chapter that I'd like to split into two chapters. This should be easy! I've read the manual on the various ways of deleting pages. I've unthreaded frames, and I've figured out that "text reflow" option has to be unchecked so that new pages (to replace the ones I'm deleting) aren't added at the end of the document. I'm still stumped. When I delete pages, the text and images they contained just float somewhere else. And sometimes, when I unthread, graphics and frames disappear completely. Nothing I've tried so far has worked. I've begun to recreate my second chapter from scratch, but there must be an easier way.

Any suggestions about how to split a chapter easily? I'm at my wits end!

Thanks for your help.

Marie

Try running this script to split all of your frames:

once  run it and delete pages, what happens?

Hi, Ian ---

I tried deleting in the pages panel (as in the YouTube tutorial you forwarded). I also tried just selecting and deleting text and then deleting pages. I also tried unthreading text frames and then deleting pages. Nothing worked. Iā€™ve given up and have recreated a new chapter from scratch.

Thanks for weighing in!

yay!!! cool!

that script is great to make sure ALL of the frames are split,

however, sometimes you may just want to select specific frames to split. in which case i use this script:

byLFC_split story from selected text frame

i layout journals, magazines and short books myself and i love this script.

thanks
