How do I delete overflow text (that is a duplicate) in InDesign?

Community Beginner ,

Last page of a document has a red X showing there is overflow text. Preflight confirms it is 69 characters.  They are duplicate. I tried to add them to a new page to delete, but it just keeps adding a new page that still has the overflow text symbol.

Help please.

Fastest way would be to put your cursor anywhere in the story (but just before the overset would be best) and hit Cmd/Ctrl + Y to open Story Editor. Select the overset text, delete and close the story editor window.

Edit: the overset will be indicated with a red line.

In case of overset text - there is either something that is bigger - higher, wider or both - than the size of the last TextFrame - or you have breaks or Paragraph have a setting to start on even / odd page.

Or you can of course do as @Peter Spier suggested.
