How do I find my InDesign work on another computer that is also logged in to the same Adobe account?

Hi all,

My Mac computer crashed the other day where I had my InDesign software downloaded and my work saved. Now I have bought a new computer and have downloaded my Creative cloud here as well, but unfortunately do not manage to get access to my previous work. How does InDesign work? Can I access my previous job if I am logged in with the same Adobe account even though I am now on a different and new device?

 

Grateful for all the guesses and answers I can get!

When you install the Creative Cloud app a folder named Creative Cloud Files gets installed by default inside of your user folder. If you were saving all of your work to that folder it would have automatically sync’d to the Adobe Cloud server and would be available when you logged in to the new computer. The user > Creative Cloud Files folder acts as a remote backup for the enclosed files and folders.

    If your file are stored only the hard drive of your old computer and your DRIVE has crashed (i.e. no longer functioning), unless you have a Time Machine backup (or other backup), you may be out of luck.

    Now, if it was just your COMPUTER that crashed but not the hard drive, then those files are still there. The easiest way to get them is to remove that drive and place it into an external enclosure so you can hook it up to your new one and copy the files over.

    Your Apple store (or any Apple-knowlegeable computer store) can help you with that. My guess is that if you bought your new Mac there, they would have offered that to you when looking at your old one, unless they already know your drive is trashed.

    Enclosures are pretty cheap to buy, and if your old drive is in good condition, you can use it as an extra storage device.

      If you saved your work on Crative Cloud it will be available for you to access. But if you saved your work only on your hard drive you will not have access through Creative Cloud. Did you have TineMachine? If so, you can use that to try and access the last saved TimeMachine.
