Every time I open an old indesign file. I am getting a window for typekit. I use suitcase and all the fonts are located there. Not installed on my computer. (I have 9800 fonts so you get the idea).

It will not find my suitcase fonts even if they are open - I need it off ASAP any help will be appreciated.

Thanks for this conversation y'all... helped out a lot!

Just had the same problem after updating to CC 2014.. FontExplorer need to time updates to plugins with Adobe as I think this is also part of the problem!

That said, I couldn't live without either!

Cheers!

FontExplorer need to time updates to plugins with Adobe as I think this is also part of the problem!

There is clearly a sizeable body of Adobe customers who use a third party font manager, and rely on it in their day-to-day workflow.

I don't know enough about when and how APIs are published (either at Adobe, or in the industry more generally), but if it doesn't happen already it would be great if Adobe could work with the teams behind Suitcase, FontExplorer, etc and try to minimise the interruptions to the workflow of their mutual customers. Did the font manager software companies only find out about CC 2014 when the public did? If it doesn't occur already is there are way that they can be given early access to the APIs?

FontExplorer feels like it is slow to react when Adobe updates its software (but again, I don't pretend to understand the technological complexity). Is there is a font manager which has a better track record of updating its plugins when Adobe updates its applications?

If this is a problem with all font managers then perhaps Adobe should consider whether there are ways that it can improve the situation for its customers. Because regardless of who is at 'fault' it impacts on Adobe users.

To all who hate TypeKit. I've been advised to leave a message under Action>report abuse>Harassment> of the following nature, i.e TypeKit in InDesign is constantly intended to disturb or upset, and it is characteristically repetitive and disruptive (insert your personalised situation here), and this will no longer become social commentary but an action that they have to immediatly attend too. The more people who report it, faster the resolution.

We're having the same issue for weeks. As is another studio in our building. InDesign/TypeKit refuses to activate fonts or disrupts auto-activation of FontExplorer pro (yes, we have the latest plug-in). It only appeared when this idiotic intrusive TypeKit utility was intalled with CC.

Get this Adobe: Let your users choose how they want to manage thier desktop applications and fonts.

I've been an Adobe customer for over twenty years. We've spent tens of thousands of dollars. Adobe is now just another greedy corporation trying to cynically nickel and dime thier customers to death and providing precious little in return.

I have now spent the last three months dealing with at least two full days a week with one intrusive Adobe screw-up after another. I've had it.

The onine Help desk is useless. Merely explaining technical issues is a lesson in endless frustration. In fact they refuse to help us since we are "Team" members and instist we call them directly. Only for them to tell us "Huh. Try re-installing everything, I guess?" I guess that's what get with minimum wage out-sourced employees.

To Adobe: Adobe we are paying a premium here. A MONTHLY premium at that. You realize your customer base essentially hates you now. Seriously. I spent our last AIGA chapter meeting refereeing a two hour gripe session of sixty designers who all hate Adobe and who will leap at the chance for OpenSouce alternatives when they eventually appear.

How can this be a sussatainbale customer service model? Oh. Right. Monopoly.

Hi Quesinberry,

This is Ben from Typekit. First, I want to apologize for any issues you've run into with Typekit. I can tell you that we didn't mean for Typekit to break your existing workflows. I would like to dig into this and figure out what's going on and hopefully, a solution.

Would you be willing to drop us a line at: support@typekit.com with a mention of this thread?

Any screenshots of the errors you're seeing, would help too. And if you could send over the OS/verion and the versions of CC, FontExplorer Pro, that would be great.

Again, I'm sorry for the frustration here. Hopefully we can get this resolved. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Cheers,

Benjamin

You don't have Typekit unless you download Typekit fonts.

You'll have to ignore the references to Typekit at the top of the Font menus in InDesign CC 9.2 because they can't be turned off.

Steve, you didn't read the message - I think he means the typekit popup that appears to look for missing fonts. I too have suitcase installed and it finds the missing fonts.

The typekit popup is not needed and no way to turn it off it seems. Is there a setting somewhere?

As I said before, you don't have Typekit fonts. You do have the Typekit filter and a message about how to download Typekit fonts. There is no way to turn that off so you must live with it.
