Every time I open an old indesign file. I am getting a window for typekit. I use suitcase and all the fonts are located there. Not installed on my computer. (I have 9800 fonts so you get the idea).
It will not find my suitcase fonts even if they are open - I need it off ASAP any help will be appreciated.

Interesting. Acrobat does absolutely nothing with TypeKit. It doesn't use it, install it, or muck with any fonts that TypeKit would be involved with.

Well outlined ShamusH,
Just made a comment about the issue myself on another page. It is really intrusive the way Typekit has suddenly hijacked our workflow when we already have a dedicated font manager chosen to manage fonts. From the threads of complaints it seems to be some months now and I am yet to see a resolve to this most frustrating issue.

@studiopkf, is there another discussion happening where this is being dealt with, or are you working direct? Would love to participate if you need more info?
Cheers.

It sounds like perhaps Explorer X Pro isn't updated for the new InDesign version which arrives in January. Have you tried tech support for the folks who make it?

Thanks Steve.
Yeah, have popped in a request to them also. Still waiting.
It worked wonderully with the CC version that we'd had from late last year, so I definitely agree that could fix the 'clash'. Hopefully they'll update the plugin's required asap.
Would also love to simply "turn off" any and all communication with Typekit somehow.
Even if FontExplorer X Pro (FEXP) does not do it's job (for whatever reason), we'd prefer to be able to make the choice that Typekit does not attempt to get involved at all, ever. This would give us back control over workflow, and the choices we make. So, this elementdoes seem to be an Adobe item at least, rather than a third party issue.
As a slight aside... We can see that there are probably a bunch of business cases to be made by Adobe for some of this, especially while they vie for market share in the increasing 'online' font delivery world. We are still looking at Skyfonts as a potential solution for our online projects, especially as it seamlessly works with FEXP... I'm hoping that Adobe will keep allowing us the choice to decide how we manage our externally licensed font software, rather than making it diffiuclt for any processes that may be deemed outside of their direct commercial/financial interests. This error started to raise the hair on our necks a little, regarding the direction Typekit is heading and what kind of control it will begin to inflict uopn our workflow... different issue altogether though, I suppose, but we make our studio infrastucture decisions based on a good few years of business planning/projections, and (until now) it's been easier to make decisions that make good business and creative sense.
Cheers, and thanks for your reply.

Hi,
I have been working with Benjamin in Tech Support so the best bet is to do what you did and email them. I found a work around for now but it is not easy. I have to close the fonts in suitcase then reopen them. I hope they will resolve the issue quickly.
I do agree with you statement above about Adobe wanting to domainate the font world too. I use google fonts in web design because it usually is easiest I am a one person shop so need to always find the quickest solution. When I do print I like to have more options and try and find the best font for the project which is not usually an adobe font.
Hope your situation gets resolved quickly.

Studiopkf, appreciate the input. Glad you got something going your end, I might attempt that this end.
Just to clarify, are you closing all fonts prior to opening a file, or are you waiting for typekit to kick in then closing them... be keen to know your actual process.
Thanks.

I had to close my fonts in Suitcase and then reactivate them. What a pain. I don't like the Typekit. None of the fonts are the names I recognize. Why didn't that use their own adobe fonts?

I want typekit removed from creative cloud or at least have the ability to disable it forever - the constant window pop up is super annoying. I am not paying for this adware. Please remove - thanks .

Hi Jason,
Sorry for any trouble here. The pop-up you're seeing is the missing fonts dialog box and isn't being caused by Typekit. The fonts in the document have likely become deactivated or are no longer installed on your machine.
You can disable Typekit in the Creative Cloud app. However this won't remove the missing fonts dialog as this comes from the app.
We're working to improve the missing fonts dialog to make it more clear. Again, sorry for any frustration.
Cheers,
Benjamin

Hey Ben -
The Typekit dialog window is popping for both missing fonts & documents with all fonts included.
It is excessively popping up regardless of the documents contents.
I just want a dismiss "do not show again" option to check.
The main issue I have with the popup is the language used in finding and replacing the missing font.
I can't seem to do it from this screen - it's unclear as to how.
I haven't had time to do a tutorial on how to find the font on my system through this window but it's easy to do in other applications like InDesign.
Haven't used it since Typekit though so not sure

Hi Jason,
I can certainly share this request with the CC app teams. The other issue here, is that some fonts that are installed can become deactivated. Inactive fonts would cause the missing fonts dialog to show up.
The CC apps teams are still investigating the factors which trigger this situation, but the basic issue is this: the Missing Fonts dialog causes fonts which are managed through Extensis Suitcase and FontExplorer to not auto-activate correctly, or for managed fonts to even be visible in the application after upgrade.
I'm going to include some workarounds in case it's helpful for you or others:
In both cases, the CC apps Missing Fonts dialog appears to override the Font Management tool dialogs that allow users to manage fonts within the Application.
If you use Suitcase Fusion, there is a simple configuration change needed:
1. close the Missing Fonts window
3. go to the Type menu and select "Suitcase Fusion 5".
3. From the submenu, choose "Library" and then check "All Libraries" so all fonts can be auto-activated as needed
4. from the Type menu, select "Suitcase Fusion 5" again, and then "Check Document’s Fonts" to activate the missing fonts,
If the font is being managed by Suitcase, it will find and update the fonts.
In FontExplorer, if your managed fonts are not visible in CC apps after upgrading:
Go to FontExplorer/Tools and select
1. Clean System Font Caches (this will require a system reboot)
2. Clean Application Font Caches
On non-Mavericks systems, you will need to de-activate and then reactivate font protection. Launch a terminal window and enter
sudo atsutil fontprotection -off
Then enter
sudo atsutil fontprotection -on
Relaunch the app, your managed fonts should now be visible and auto-activation should work.
The fonts can always be activated from within the Font Management software itself, even with the missing fonts dialog open. I hope this is helpful. Thanks again for your feedback.
Cheers,
Benjamin

What exactly are you replying to? A four year old question that's long been answered on a version of InDesign that's long since been retired...or should have been by now.

I don't and never have had TypeKit fonts. Please don't brush aside what seems to be a major annoyance that Adobe has put upon us. If Adobe would put in an ON/OFF switch (that works) this wouldn't be an issue.

We're having the same issue for weeks. As is another studio in our building. InDesign/TypeKit refuses to activate fonts or disrupts auto-activation of FontExplorer pro (yes, we have the latest plug-in). It only appeared when this idiotic intrusive TypeKit utility was intalled with CC.
Get this Adobe: Let your users choose how they want to manage thier desktop applications and fonts.
I've been an Adobe customer for over twenty years. We've spent tens of thousands of dollars. Adobe is now just another greedy corporation trying to cynically nickel and dime thier customers to death and providing precious little in return.
I have now spent the last three months dealing with at least two full days a week with one intrusive Adobe screw-up after another. I've had it.
The onine Help desk is useless. Merely explaining technical issues is a lesson in endless frustration. In fact they refuse to help us since we are "Team" members and instist we call them directly. Only for them to tell us "Huh. Try re-installing everything, I guess?" I guess that's what get with minimum wage out-sourced employees.
To Adobe: Adobe we are paying a premium here. A MONTHLY premium at that. You realize your customer base essentially hates you now. Seriously. I spent our last AIGA chapter meeting refereeing a two hour gripe session of sixty designers who all hate Adobe and who will leap at the chance for OpenSouce alternatives when they eventually appear.
How can this be a sussatainbale customer service model? Oh. Right. Monopoly.

Hi Quesinberry,
This is Ben from Typekit. First, I want to apologize for any issues you've run into with Typekit. I can tell you that we didn't mean for Typekit to break your existing workflows. I would like to dig into this and figure out what's going on and hopefully, a solution.
Would you be willing to drop us a line at: support@typekit.com with a mention of this thread?
Any screenshots of the errors you're seeing, would help too. And if you could send over the OS/verion and the versions of CC, FontExplorer Pro, that would be great.
Again, I'm sorry for the frustration here. Hopefully we can get this resolved. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Cheers,
Benjamin

Typekit completely breaks my existing workflow. I've used Adobe products just fine without it for two decades, and it's safe to say I have no interest in ever seeing a Typekit popup ever again for the rest of my life. It really doesn't matter how I manage my fonts–just make it go away, please. Sometimes I just want to pop into an old INDD doc to copy and paste a paragraph. I don't need an interloper involved.

Hi Lori,
In response to feedback from users like yourself, the InDesign team has changed how Typekit font sync works in newer versions of the application. The missing fonts window will still open any time InDesign can't find a font you've used, of course, but the Typekit information will only appear as a small button in the top right.
You can see here that Komika Display is missing. I fixed this by installing the font with my font manager (Font Book) and making sure it was activated. Once I did this, the missing fonts dialog went away and the document worked as expected. I have the ability to search Typekit for the missing fonts in a document if Typekit is turned on.
I would recommend upgrading InDesign to the most recent version if you haven't done this already. You will get the improved missing fonts dialog as seen in the screenshot.
I hope this helps clarify. Again, sorry for any trouble. Let me know if you have any further questions or comments.
Cheers,
Benjamin
