How do I underline all the sentences in a paragraph (justified)?

I have to make a tekst look like somebody filled in blank writing lines in a questionaire. So the tekst is left-aligned, but the lines should go all the way till the right side of the text frame (justified). Is this possible without putting returns in to the text? It should be a solution in a paragraph or character style preferably.

    Correct answer FRIdNGE

That looks perfect! How do you do that?

Thank you all for thinking with me!

The method of Jongware is almost working... Only it skips the middle lines (5th sentence):

Why wouldn't a Right Indent Tab (Shift + Tab) with an underline character style work?

If you have to edit the text the underline will adjust itself to the new text:

    Hi srthsthaeht:

I just use a right-align tab. Press tab at the end of each line.

Select the text, choose Type > Tabs. Add a right-align tab towards the right, then define an underline (shift+hyphen) as the leader.

If desired, drag the tab over to the right margin.

Results (with and without hidden characters visible):

I use Barb’s method with an underscore and right-aligned tab because I have:

First Name ____________________ Last Name ________________

    City _________________State ______________ Zip _____________

Can you guys make one of those other methods work for this?

You can use Paragraph Rules for this.

Set the Rule Above to 0.5 pt, Text Color, Column Width, with a modest Offset of about -0.5mm to move it slightly below the baseline.

Set the Rule Below to 3 pt, [Paper], Text Width, with a Right Indent of -2 or -3mm (per your own preference), and an Offset of 0mm. This is to cover up the full paragraph Rule Above for only the text width. To check if it correctly covers the other rule, enable Preview and set its color to something clearly visible, such as Cyan. Use Offset to move it slightly up or down, or simply enter a very thick weight (well – better not make it thicker than your text is high).

When you get it to look like this

set the Rule Below color to [Paper] and enjoy your Fully Automatic entry lines:

I didn't actually read your response, [Jongware] before answering—it's early here—but that's really cool technique and new to me. I like the tabs because I usually set a second tab to start the Iines at the same location (which I didn't do in my response above), but yours has consistent space between the text and the beginning of the line. Plus you don't have to add the tab character.

Learning new techniques from others is one of my favorite parts of being an ACP.

I think the OP doesn't want to use tabs, returns, or other characters, so [Jongware] solution works if the underline is on the same line as the text. I'm not sure if there is a solution for multiple answer lines below the text—it probably could be scripted?

    Use fill tabs.

Preferably the text it self should not be changed by hand. It is for a series of books. Putting tabs and taking them out in case of corrections is too much work, unfortunately. Het is voor een auto-opmaak.
