How do I update my InDesign CS3 program since it no longer works?

Since your CS3 no longer works it seems safe to assume that you are working with either a Mac or Windows system that no longer supports it. There are no updates for CS3 and even its activation server has been closed down. If you want to continue using the programs Adobe has to offer you will have to get a subscription to Creative Cloud. For one monthly fee you can get access to all of Adobe's programs as well as access to the entire Typekit Type library. You can even, for a lower fee, get only a single program if you wish. Please read this very carefully: Activation or connection error when starting CS3 or Acrobat 8

If you already have a valid CS3 license and are on a supported operating system you can download a new installer that does not require activation.

Updates start here and select product, read to see if you need to install updates in number order, or if the updates are cumulative for the individual product http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/

If there is no update for your CS3 on that page, you may have to buy a newer version https://creative.adobe.com/plans

Especially if your UN-named operating system is so new that it won't work with that very old version
