Hi there is it possible to avoid "save image" option in the browser when publishing a pdf online? Even when a image is saved from the online pdf is possible to see the same document(image) name and extension. I'd like to dissable that possibility...
thanks a lot
Hi felixduart
The save image option which comes on right clicking the published document is a property of HTML file which has been converted from an indesign document. For this to be changed , one has to make server/client side changes to the same. As the process to convert it for online-ready platform has already been implemented on the server and client side, there's nothing we can do much. You can suggest to add this as a feature , but so far this option has not been in the current scenario of

From within InDesign? Only include vector images.
All other "solutions" depend on what software is used to view your fPDF with, and you should ask in their respective forums. (Expect a different solution for every different program.)

i dont see the point of finding the solution in the program used to "read" the document or browser in this case, my question is when publishing online a document created with ID.
Thanks

Do you mean that if someone opens a PDF that you put online that was created in InDesign (or in any other application), that you don't want them to be able to select the image, right-click it, and choose Save Image As...? Or do I misunderstand?
If so, that is an Adobe Acrobat question, and the answer is to put security on the PDF to lock it for editing.
Is that what you are asking? Or is it something different?

hi jane-e, yes, this is exactly what i mean. I am not exporting the pdf as classic pdf, i am publishing it online. Since i am designing the document with ID i find it weird not to have this option from the designing program(ID). For example, is possible to dissable "save iimage as..." this using DW coding with HTML? if so, with ID should be possible too. Sorry, concerning Adobe Acrobat, i am confused about that and maybe the answer is there. When publishing online the pdf do i have the option to put security on the pdf to lock it for editing?
thanks

Okay, then I think I misunderstood. I saw "PDF" and answered for that.
You are using Publish Online and want to put security on it so that the images can't be saved out. Is that now correct? I am not an expert in Publish Online (others are), but I found this FAQ that does not mention security.

I can not find any Publish Online FAQ due to solve this issue.

Hi,
All publish online options are seen in the dialog box that pops up when you click the publish online button in InDesign.
You can ofcourse prevent the downloading of the PDF after it has been exported but there is no way that prevents the "save as" of the images which otherwise can also be accomplished by taking a screenshot.
If you allow the PDF to be downloaded, once it is downloaded whether it can be edited or if images can be "saved as" depend on what software is used to view your PDF with, and you should ask in their respective forums. (As [Jongware] said)
You can also explore if the "image setting" option in the Advanced section of the publish online dialog solves the -extension- part of your query.

This discussion is seven years old. My advice for this type of thing is, and always has been, if you don't want anyone to "steal" it, don't put it on the internet!

Unless I'm missing something, even if the "Save Image As" option is disabled, anybody can just take a screenshot of the image anyway. Or does the Save Image As option retrieve a hi-res version of the image in this case?

You're not missing a thing. It's a pipedream.

I don't agree with you, my friend and here is why. The intention is to create a gallery with my work and share only with clients and people industry. I said gallery and not a website, it's important that you acknowledge the difference. Us photographer and artist concern about copyright infringement because the resources/cost/study etc etc takes a good part of our life's away, I don't anyone still my work!!!!!! So, we always are on the look out for exclusively share our work!!!!

I do not acknowledge that at all. You're wrong, IMO.
If you want to "protect" your work, don't put it on the web and certainly avoid any service which you do not have full control over. Publish Online can now be password protected. I suggest you look into that if you're that concerned or create your own website where you'll have full control.
