How to change sub heading style?

Hi,

I'm currently wokring on a magazine and I want to make the headings a different paragraph style yet when I highlight the line and click the style I want it changes the rest of the text or the paragraph after as well. I just want the sub heading titles to change. I works if I put another space between the paragraph and the text yet this isn't going to work for the magazine as well I click back the paragraph style just changes.

Please help!

Wel, very likely the next paragraph uses a style based on the one used above in the subhead. Edit that paragraph style to check wether it is based on none or in a style used above.

If the subline is part of the same Paragraph you can use a Nested Style in the Paragraph Style.

Create a Character Style
In the headline's pararaph style go to the nested style section, no character style until forced return, then the created style
