How to clean font cache?

New Here ,
Aug 25, 2017 Aug 25, 2017

I needed a clean font and purchased a 1-license from font.com for the Monotype library. Then was prompted to include FontExplorer X Pro 6x. I cannot get my new fonts to load or replace in an InDesign document. Of course it's due at the printer.

I keep coming across "clean out my font cache" but no idea how to do that. What is the best way to start with Font Explorer? I've checked the boxes to activate but not yet happened.

Hi Loribydesign,

As per your query, below mentioned are the steps for troubleshooting and delete font cache.

For Windows: The Adobe caches are located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\TypeSpt and delete any AdobeFnt*.lst files. Do not delete AdobeFnt.db or FontNames.db!! Those are not caches.

For MAC: https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/troubleshoot-fonts-mac-os-x.html

This thread is 7 years old. Things have changed. You should have started a new post.

Here is some new info:

You can also try this if it's more an InDesign issue:

@Srishti BaliI have looked for hours and cannot find the answer to this: the folder you mention: TypeSpt is not there!

Before you ask: yes, I have "show hidden files" activated so I should see the folder and the "AdobeFnt*.lst" file and delete it but I do not have this folder!!!

This is driving me crazy: I had a font that has errors, I deleted it via registry, illustrator also showed it gone.

Then I re-installed a new version of the font and all my Adobe programs still show the old version, I spent so many hours already on this, I am in severe pain! Please help!

Hi @RV999,

I completely understand your frustration, and I’m here to help!

To troubleshoot font issues, I recommend following the steps outlined in this official Adobe guide: Troubleshoot Fonts in Illustrator and InDesign. It provides comprehensive instructions for resolving common font problems, including cache clearing, font conflicts, and ensuring proper font installation.

Please give this a try and let me know if it helps resolve the issue. If you continue to experience difficulties, feel free to share more details, and we’ll be happy to assist further!

Best,
Abhishek Rao

Hi @Abhishek Rao I did find that guide and I followed the steps but unfortunatelly i have still no way to resolve my font problem: the font appears installed in the registry and in the windows fonts but Illustrator and Photoshop cannot see it. Interestingly the whole family has 12 fonts but only 2 of the fonts are invisible to Adobe, the rest work fine.

I know that the "invisible" font is installed because if I try to re-install it I get the "" font is already installed" message. So. Why is this happening?
