How to continue footnote numbering across files?

Contributor ,

Hi,

I have a book file with different chapters (all separate files). Is there a way to have footnotes numbering continue across the different chapters instead of always starting at 1?

Thank you!

Hi @Mateomono ,

you could do it not automacially by setting the value for the first footnote instance in a document:

Footnote Options > Numbering > Start at:

Or you could look for a script that will work on a InDesign book file with references to listed documents in a particular order that will do this.

Best see into Peter Kahrel's scripts if there is something for you:

This one could be helpful as well:

Synchronise footnote options
