Hi Debbie:
We are always happy to help when you have a question.
But speaking as a career InDesign instructor, if my student needs to go find outside for help with every class assignment, it tells me that I'm not doing a great job teaching the topics. Hi Debbie:
We are always happy to help when you have a question.
But speaking as a career InDesign instructor, if my student needs to go find outside for help with every class assignment, it tells me that I'm not doing a great job teaching the topics. You might want to start by approaching your teacher to let him/her know that you are struggling in the class, and give them a change to help you one-on-one. Once they are aware that you need additional help, it may well change how they present information, and cue them to ask you (and others in the same boat) if the presentation makes sense or if you need additional information before assigning the homework.
For many instructors, homework is meant to review topics already learned in class.

As another career InDesign instructor, I'd agree with Barb. She has good advice.
In my college extension classes, where I'm teaching a 10-week class, my approach is to teach some principles for working and techniques for solving layout issues, and we practice them in class. Then I give the students a chance to use what is taught in their assignments.

You might be better off with changing trainer. Have a look at InDesign Classroom in a Book Adobe InDesign CC Classroom in a Book (2019 Release) | Peachpit and the Lynda.com online training tutorials - you can get 30 days free.
And come back to this forum for particular issues.

I apologize for any inconvenience I thought the forum was to help the
community! I won’t ask again, I can’t change instructor because is too late
for changing or dropping classes. Thank you for the help in the past

It's definitely not an inconvenience to offer help. We're just questioning the fact that your instructor doesn't seem to be providing you with essential information as part of his/her instruction but is relying on you to find it outside the class.
Please continue to ask your questions here, and we'll be happy to help you out!

Hi Debbie:
I didn’t mean to imply that you shouldn’t be asking us questions. I’m sorry if that it how it came across. We are here for you—continue to let us know how we can help.
We are just pointing out that it unusual that the instructor is not giving you the information that you need, and that there’s nothing wrong emailing him for more information.

Steve Disney is paying for my school so they decide where we go! Is an
online school and we try to cover in 7 weeks what people usually see in 6
months. I do a lot of YouTube because I am 100% new to Indesign and new to
online school. I can’t switch class because they only have 15 seats and
they are taken. I really appreciate the forum help.....

We have some pretty expert and helpful people here, and we can probably direct you to resources and help faster than you could find by randomly finding YouTube videos to teach what you need. Keep asking questions!

You mustn’t be so sensitive - you’ve had a lot of help on the forum, and people are happy to continue to assist you. We appreciate you‘re committed to a course, it’s just one or two of us pointed out the teacher is usually more helpful. Regarding other sources of help, it’s always useful to get other views on how to undertake a task, whichever subject you’re studying. As you may have seen with InDesign (and the other Creative Cloud applications) there’s more than one way of doing something.
Carry on learning!

My turn to chime in, Debbie,
Again, please ask questions here (each in a new thread). We are here to help.
Please give feedback to Disney that an online class with 200 students is not the best way to go and that the instructor is not answering your questions. Also include that on the final eval. Steve, Barb, and I are all instructors, and this kind of feedback is important. Many Adobe Authorized Training Centers offer the option to join a live class as an online student, and Disney might look into that. Or a trainer can be sent to Orlando if there is a group of students. If they allow this, ask us for recommendations.
Does the online class have a chat pod where you can talk to the other students?
Best,
Jane

We have a blackboard where we can ask questions to other students but we
are all on the same boat we all work at Disney and this is our first class
for graphic design. I wish we had you online or a normal school that we
could go to but that’s only for bachelor or master careers. Thank you all
for your help. Believe me I am taking advantage of this opportunity at
Disney and so far I got very good grades on my work I give 100% of me and I
appreciate you all.
