How to Fix Overset Text Issues in Data Merge for Your Booklet in InDesign

Hello!

I am trying to create a 20 page booklet with over 1,000 addresses to merge onto the back. Each booklet needs to be a separate record. When I go to merge, it tells me there's overset text and only shows me one record.

How do I fix this issue?

Thank you!

@Renee5D59

How will you print it?

Digital or offset?

Hi @Renee5D59,

I understand how challenging it can be to deal with overset text during a Data Merge. To help you better, could you please share the version of InDesign you're using and your operating system details?

To resolve the overset text issue, try the following:

1. Check Text Frame Size: Make sure your text frames are large enough to accommodate the merged content. You may need to resize them or adjust text formatting.

2. Use the Data Merge Panel: When merging, select 'Create Merged Document', and choose the option for *Multiple Records* to generate separate booklets for each address.

3. Preview Before Merging: Use the preview function in the Data Merge panel to see how the records will appear and adjust any frames as needed.

Let me know if this helps or if you need further assistance!

Thank you,
Abhishek Rao
