There are multiple possibilities here:

  • Overlapping text boxes. You'd fix that by getting your Arrow/Selection tool and using the Edit>Select All menu command, then moving overlapping text frames off each other.
  • Odd leading values. You'd correct for that by selecting your Type tool, clicking in the text area, then Edit>Select All for the text and using a larger leading value than the type size of your text.
  • Conflicting type styles/tagging between your copied webpage text and your set InDesign

There are multiple possibilities here:

  • Conflicting type styles/tagging between your copied webpage text and your set InDesign type character/paragraph values. You'd fix that by clicking into the text with your Type tool, using Edit>Select All and applying a single Paragraph Style and a Character Style of [None] to override any webpage formatting. Which may or may not work.
  • Retyping the text you tried to cut/paste from the webpage directly within InDesign, ensuring that none of the webpage formatting would affect your InDesign layout. This works every time.

Those four points above cover all the possibilities which are causing your text formatting problems. The first three points are easier to apply, but only the last point absolutely guarantees you will get past the problem.

Hope this helps,

Randy

It's my pleasure, Indra.

If this works for you, can I ask a favor? Could you mark the answer that helps you correct, so the administrators here archive it for other users who may have similar issues? That way, the thread can be listed in the Related conversations section at the top right for others who ask about similar issues.

And anytime you have issues with InDesign — or heck, any Adobe application — don't hesitate to come back here and ask for help. There are lots of sharp folks around here who are happy to lend a hand.

Good luck,

Randy
