How to generate double hyphens

New Here ,
Oct 17, 2024 Oct 17, 2024

Hello,

I design in Brazilian Portuguese and I need that when a word is hypheneted (like twenty-one or dates like 1914-1991) it creates another - in a line break.

Example:

1914-1991:

The Age of Extremes: The Short Twentieth Century, 1914-

-1991 (London: Abacus, 1995).

Austria-Hungary:

which included forces from Japan, France, Germany, Italy, and Austria-

-Hungary.

How can I automatically set that?

If this is not a standard feature of one of the spelling/hyphenation dictionaries that can be selected, it will have to be done with something like a GREP style, and in each Paragraph Style where such hyphenation might be encountered. If this is standard in BP, someone must have solved it, I think?

Hi Ingrid.

Whit discretionary hyfens. Go to Insert Special Character > Hyphens and Dashes > Discretionary Hyfen.

Furthermore, if you set paragraph style hyphenation and the Portuguese dictionary works automatically — well... it actually works fine if you choose the Portuguese dictionary and not the Portuguese dictionary after orthografic agreement... I don´t know why.
