How to Keep the Font Drop-Down Always Open in InDesign

I primarily use Illustrator but have been in InDesign a lot lately to work on font combinations for a website. Is there a way to keep the fonts drop-down always open/expanded? Trying to speed up my workflow by avoiding constant scrolling, not to mention the occasional lag that trips me up when scrolling. I'm aware I can filter fonts to shorten the list, and also that I can star fonts to create a custom list.

Thanks in advance!

Do you need to see those fonts to find a useable font? Or do you want to apply a font fast?  If it is the second, use Paragraph and Character Styles.
If it is the first, I don't see a solution.

Thanks, Willi. Yes, its the former that I was hoping for if I'm understanding you correctly. I use the Properties>Character panel for changing fonts. I was hoping there was something like what I've pictured below--a panel that just displays all the fonts, and holds place after you've been scrolling.

I know this is a small simple thing but that is exactly what made me think there must be a way!

Presumably, you know about the Favourite font(s) facility?

Derek, I do know about the favorites option, and it looks like that will be the closest I get for now! Thank you for your reply

As far as I know, there's no way to keep the list of fonts open. Indeed, Mac's built-in fonts panel suddenly looks attractive for this task.

P.S. It's actually possible to create a similar panel for InDesign. Don't know if there's any serious interest in such a product, though. I may look into making this panel, when the time permits.

I think it would be a reeeeeeeally niche market! I wasn't aware it is possible to make such a thing, though. Very cool.

It's easily scriptable - just a list of available fonts - but I'm not JS guy so can't help you.

Ok. Since I already had an app that displays a floating panel, I did an experiment. I created a copy of the app that loads the list of InDesign fonts instead of its regular data.

It's not a finished product in any way, but it does what's discussed here: displays a list of InDesign fonts in a panel and applies selected fonts to selected text:

It can also filter unwanted fonts:

Mac only.

OOOOOOH! Can't wait to try this later. And an option to hide Noto fonts?! Did it hurt when you fell from heaven? 😂
