How to Properly Align and Space Objects with Text in InDesign

I am using Align option to set these numbers nicely with the text. I have run into several issues. I have a larger text box for the page that is the margins. Then I have these numbers dragged in from my library. They are created in Illustrator and saved to the cloud library. It seems I can get them edge justified to the margin of the page using align but otherwise it does not seem that I am able to get align to work for me.

I would like to lay them in a more pleasing position with the text and make sure they are all properly spaced the same. I am aware of Key objects but not sure how to use this properly for this task either since I have one large text box as the page. Image of my issue attached.

This image I did by hand but I cannot find an option to get the numbers to align with the text like this.

Did you try to create circled text frames directly in InDesign and then anchored them at the beginning of each line in uour main text frame?

Select the anchored object and go to the Object menu > Anchored object.

Just to be sure, I remind you how to anchor objects:

  1. Create the circled frame, type the number*, adjust the number alignment inside it
  2. Copy the frame with the black arrow
  3. Switch to the type tool
  4. Position the cursor at the beginning of the line in the main text frame
  5. Paste

* you can use a list to automatically number each frame
