How to quickly switch between two language versions of InDsgin on the same computer?

Guide ,
Mar 15, 2024 Mar 15, 2024

Can there be two InDesign versions at the same time, sometimes I want to quickly switch to the English version?
I usually use the Chinese version, but occasionally I need to use the English version.

So I can only switch to another computer, which is very inconvenient.

Can I switch between different languages on the same computer?
thanks

If you on Windows you can do this:

1. Install English version from Creative Cloud (don't delete installed Chinese version, change variant of English language for apps in Creative Cloud Desktop preferences). After install you can change this preference back to Chinese.

2. Copy installed Indesign folder to another location/name.

3. In copied folder open file AMT/application.xml.

Find key <Data key="installedLanguages">en_ZZ,xx_YY</Data> (xx_YY - is your Chinese, en_ZZ - installed variant of English) in this file and change value to something similar to

<Data key="installedLanguages">en_ZZ</Data>.

Now if you want to start Chinese version - start Indesign from original folder, English version - from copied folder.
