Hello, in my company we had a hacker attack. It took computers to clean and deleted files that I need. they are overwritten with the shortcut "akita" but they still have their importance, I wonder if they still store any original data and can it be recovered, the question concerns indd files and pdfs, it doesn't matter to me which one I recover, as long as it works. I cant drop files here so here is link with them to my google disc:

I'm sorry you're going through this but it sounds like your company didn't have a proper backup plan. This has nothing to do with InDesign or any other application. If changing the file extensions/names doesn't work, I doubt anyone here is going to be able to help and you may need to hire a file recovery specialist.

I know that's not what you want to hear but it's the truth.

I deleted your link. If that drive was hacked, there's no telling what's floating around in there.

To recover INDD or PDF files, check your backup folders, temporary files, or use file recovery software. For INDD files, Adobe InDesign may auto-recover unsaved work. Always keep autosave and cloud sync enabled to avoid data loss.

Czesc Dominika,

Based on what I see in your shared folder, it seems you need a bulk file renaming utility program that has the ability to see all instances of "pdf.akira" and can bulk rename to "pdf". You might try PowerToys, Bulk File Renamer, Easy File Rename. There are a lot of them. Some have GREP built into them. Many of these are free for the download.
