Hi,
How do I clear disk space in Indesign in a simple and safe way? I don't understand why I keep running out of space on Indesign. I have a new iMac and keep most large files on an external hard drive. Help!
Hi Uwe and thank you for your reply! The problem disappeard, just like that ... Perhaps it was the Timemachine, you never know 😊

How much spare disk space do you have?

I don't now how to find out ... This is my overall space, if that is helpful:

You have 185GB of spare hard disk space.

Yes, thank you! And I have now 285GB disk space after I've moved more files to my external hard drive. I still get a warning when I start working in Indeisgn that I need to clear disk space.

Please share a screen shot of the warning. That should be enough space.

Hi @Kustenklar ,
recently I had a similar issue with Adobe PhotoShop 2022 on macOS; on a machine that I do not manage. PhotoShop suddenly could not start up because it registered less than the minimum amount of free space on the harddisk for running (less than 30 Gigabytes I think). The Mac is integrated into a network where IT staff observed several power failures for some NAS servers for some weeks.
The reason for this behavior of macOS on my machine could have been TimeMachine, with snapshots of disk contents that are not deleted. The NAS servers where TimeMachine should store the snapshots were not plugged for some days.
In the end all is working now, because the NAS servers are all running again and TimeMachine is running again as it should. I did a totally new initial, not incremental backup. After I did this full backup over the night and two restarts of the machine the issue was gone.
Well, this all said:
Of course I'm not sure if this points to a solution for you.
But if you are using TimeMachine, make sure that TimeMachine is functioning well and do a new full backup.
