How to Resolve 'Incompatible Locale Detected' Error When Transferring User Settings on MacBook

I need to travel with a new MacBook. Transferring the user settings from my desktop computer, using File>user settings>export user settings and importing the file gives me the error message 'Incompatible locale detected. Please choose a valid file to proceed.'

I've ensured that both versions are up to date and the same. The date/time is the same. I have no idea where to go from here.

It was identical. The good news is that Adobe Support guided me through copying the caches and various other files and I'm now sorted. Thanks for weighing in!

This is just a guess; when you installed the apps from CC on your new machine, did you use the same Install language as the ones on your desktop (Creative Cloud > Preferences > Apps > Default Install Language). It might be enough difference for the existing preference files (that you are trying to move over) to throw an error.
