How to transfer 2011 Indesign CS5 software to a new computer?

How do I transfer my indesign CS5 software from my extremely old computer hard drive to a new computer?  It was downloaded in 2011 so it is not part of the Adobe cloud and can not be accessed online.  I just need to actually transfer the software that I paid for back in 2011.

Thanks ~ Heather

I did not know it was possible on Windows. I am a Mac user.

There's a compatibility mode you can set, but it's far from perfect. Windows will also still allow 32-bit applications. So, again, it's possible but I wouldn't bet the mortgage on its reliability.

  1. You cannot transfer any Adobe Software from one computer or backup to another. You have to install it from Adobe Installer. Now it is only possible to install from the CC desktop app.
  2. CS5 is way to old as it is not compatible to modern Macs. You will have to subscribe to the Creative Cloud.

Nowhere does the OP state that this is for a Mac.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to install a such old version of a new computer… Unless your new computer has an old system version. Can you tell us what system is installed?

While it's unlikely to work well, it's not impossible on Windows. On a Mac? That's impossible.

Did you not keep a copy of the installer? Is this Mac or Windows? If it's a new Mac you can forget about it altogether. If it's Windows you can try to run it in Win 7 compatibility mode but even that's going to be a crapshoot.
