Hyphenation difference between Indesign and Incopy?

So our clients use Incopy often to do all of the text corrections in our designs. Recently we've run into a problem with some of our documents. For instance the text in Incopy could appear to be 4 lines shorter than it is in Indesign. We've narrowed the problem down to there being a difference in the hyphenation between the Indesign and Incopy document, but haven't got a clue what causes it. Text and layout should appear the same in Incopy no matter what, so this is a bit of a problem for us.

    Do both have the same user Dictionary? Or does one of you have other entries done? I s the user dictionare saved into the file?

    Do both have the same Keep and Hyphenation Settings?

    We just use the default dictionaries. I've never doen anything with dictionaries, besides using the correct language.

    But I've tested the incopy file on my own mac, the same mac the Indesign file was made on, so I'm pretty sure it has the same dictionary, hyphenation settings, fonts etc. But I got the same result as our client, the text was 4 lines shorter in Incopy.

    Funny thing is when I got the , corrected incopy files back and updated my Incopy links in Indesign the text also appeared 4 lines shorter than before I updated the links. And the client didn't delete any text or anything like that... So when I updated the links my Indesign file and Incopy file were suddenly identical again.

    Are you using paragraph styles? Does the paragraph style define the hyphenation and especially the justification settings?

    Hi MacHenk ,

    InDesign and InCopy are the same exact version?

    Like 14.0.2.324 ? You can check the exact version by holding the Ctrl key and invoke About InDesign from the Help menu.

    Hm. Are there any third-party plug-ins installed that could have an influence on text composition?

    Hi Uwe

    Yes, InDesign and InCopy are exact the same version.

    Of course we can’t be sure if our clients install all last updates,

    but we checked for ourselves what happens when we open the InCopy files

    internally. And we always have the last updates installed, and are sure that all

    open type fonts correspond

    For one of our clients we use a Woodwing plugin, but find the problems also with a client

    that we don’t use any third party plugins for.

    It is only recently that these problems occur. Could it be a bug in a new software update.

    The problem is serious, because it completely undermines the use of InCopy for our clients.

    Our workflow is based on the use and relyability of InCopy.

    Are you using a layout workflow or an assignments workflow? Are you sure everyone is using the same version of the same font?

    What version of InDesign / InCopy / Operating System is everyone on?
