Hyphenation in German

Question

Hi Everyone,I'm working on a book in Austrian German in Indesign but I am struggling with the hyphenation, my client says the hyphenation is wrong. even though I set dictionary to German: 2006 Reform. The other problem is the alignment, I am placing the text into 2 columns (63mm column width and 8 mm gutter) but when I do the alignment from the left the right side looks unbalanced and when i align it on both sides it creates big space between words and it becomes difficult to try to adjust each line individually.Please help what is the best way to hyphenate and align German ext in Indesign CC?

Make sure you're updated to the InDesign CC 2018 version. Then set Duden Hyphenation as described in the InDesignSecrets.com article link below:

Hi Monira,I'm not an expert in Austrian German, hope that Willi Adelberger chimes in…My take on this:Try Austrian 2006 Reform. And the formatting of the language attribute of the text should be Austrian 2006 Reform as well. All available with InDesign CC 2018.Regards,Uwe
