Question

I have a problem with quotation marks in InDesign.

I am using both InDesign and MS Word to create a PDF newsletter. I have set Helvetica Neue as the default font in both apps. The letters (text) in both appears identical, but when I enter quotation marks directly within InDesign, they are different than the style of quotation marks in text that I have copied and pasted from Word. The InDesign marks are straight vertical (like this: "), while the Word marks are curved, like commas. How do I make them match?

  1. In InDesign presets you have to activate typographer's quotes.
Install presers section dictionary you have to ser up the correct quotes for each language.
Your text must have the correct language.

Preferences > Type> t the top of the dialog be sure Use Typographers Quotes is checked.

You'll need to select any existing text first to fix it, then do it again with nothing slected to make it the default for the document going forward, and finally, set it with no file open to make it the default for all new work.
