...because it might be wasting your time. I've worked with PhotoShop since it was invented but opened InDesign for the first time a month ago - and really enjoying it. So this is probably very beginnerish.

Is it possible to "tell" a text box that any text in this specific text box should be a certain colour?

I'm asking because I have a book with 10 pages. All pages have white backgrounds except the 3rd. The text is ongoing so every time I edit the text, and it either becomes shorter or longer, I need to go and re-colour the text again. I will do that happily but was wondering if a text box could be told: all text in you shall have a certain colour.

Thank you for your time

Adam

    Hi Adam:

Probably not without scripting, unless we can do it with blending modes. What color is the background and what color does the text need to be?

Thank you for your kind answer. I apologise for not constructing my answer precisely. I'm actually not looking for a text box to change the text dynamically - but rather assign to a text box that all text in its frame is always a certain colour (no matter the background colour).

    Thank you

    Dear BarbBinder,

    Thank you.

Specifically black/white; all pages have white backgrounds except one, which has black. So, the thought was that the text in the text boxes on the black back ground could be turned white per default. Thinking that would be handy in many a situation.

InDesign cannot dynamically change text color based on the background color of the frame it's in.

It's possible someone has developed a script to do that. You could ask in the InDesign Scripting forum:
