Hi guys,

I worked on a project a month ago then stopped working on it, upgraded all my Adobe Apps to their new version (2023 -> 2024), and now I cannot find my InDesign file I was working on on the Adobe Creative Cloud ...

Please tell me therer is a way to find this file ... It's hours of work and I have to finish it soon ..

Bests,

Hi @Maxime225341466dt8 , InDesign does not have a dedicated cloud format like Photoshop or Illustrator–the Save or Save As dialog only lets you save locally.

If you are getting the file does not exist... message, the file was either accidentally trashed or moved. If the file was saved to your user>Creative Cloud Files folder, and it successfully sync’d to your cloud account before it was trashed or moved, there is a chance it could still be in the cloud server’s Deleted directory:

Thing is, my .indd file was saved on Creative Cloud, not on my local disk

Also, Photoshop has the special cloud format (.PSDC), which you can access from the Save dialog by clicking the Save to cloud documents button

InDesign has never had that option—there is currently no .INDDC or .INDC format. The Save and Save As dialog for all versions, including the latest, only lets you access the local network file system:

update :

I am on Mac, I went to "File > Open recent > the_file_I_was_looking_for.indd" and then a pop-up appeares saying "either the file does not exist, you do not have the permission, or the file may be in use by another application". (my file isn't in use nowhere)
So what now ?

Updating your InDesign application should never delete an InDesign document.

Use the Mac search feature (File > Find...) to locate it where your files are stored.

You looked in this location for the file?

Windows

C:\Users\<Username>\Creative Cloud Files

macOS

Mac HD/Users/<Username>/Creative Cloud Files

This is the only thing I find at this location :

And then it takes me to my creative cloud files online but I cannot find my file .indd.
