ID CS5 will not allow selecting Master Pages

Hi

I have ID CS5 and have many documents I have created over the years using master pages to create headers and footers which are used over many pages in each document.  Up until today I have never had any issues selecting the master pages, making changes and having these changes show up in my layout.  This morning I open ID to begin working on my latest document and I can't select my master page.  I close ID and restart, same thing.  I open a couple other ID documents completed in the past and try to select the master in these - same thing.  I can't select any of the master pages in any of my ID docs.  I reset the preference (ctrl>opt>com>shift) no difference.  Thought it may be my mouse (optical apple) mouse works fine in PS/BR/LR.  Rebooted my computer (iMac El Capitan) and still the same.  I have the licensed ID disks but would like to understand if this is a fixable bug  before I remove and reinstall program.

Thanks

Bob

Rob

attached is an image of the ID library cache - what do I drag to the trash file? Thanks..

Open the Adobe InDesign folder you are showing and trash the Version Folder(s)

Derek is right but if this is only one file, try exporting it to IDML and working on that. If it's all files, try trashing your preferences.

Beyond that, you're on your own.

InDesign CS5 (and CS6) is not supported by Adobe running under El Capitan or later. Some users seem so run them without problems and others do. If it's mission critical it's probably best to upgrade to InDesign CC2017/2018. You can subscribe by the month if you only use InDesign occasionally.

Thanks Derek

I already subscribe to other CC products but it's just in my nature to try and squeeze every bit of life out of ID CS5 before making the jump.

I'm here wracking my brains out trying to understand what changed in my system over the past 24 hours.  I reconfigured my optical mouse and reset the ID Preferences.  Why this bug showed up this morning is maybe just beyond explanation - one of the mysteries of the technical age.  Regardless I'm too old to sweat it.  I'll try a few other things and if I can't get it to behave, I'll just have to make the jump and put this behind me.

Thanks again for taking your time to respond - mucho appreciated.
