Hi,

I would like to use the ability of sharing filestructures in the "Adobe Creative Cloud Files".

We've got an image-mood-pool where we can choose between different mood-pictures of our corporate identity.

But! My image link is called: C:\Users\***\Creative Cloud Files\CTA_CI\_Mood-Bilder\***.jpg

When another user opens the InDesign-Document, the image-link is obviously broken 'cause his username (***) is different to mine...

Is there a solution for this kind of problem? Like InDesign starts his linking directly from the "Creative Cloud Files"-File (C:\Users\***\Creative Cloud Files\CTA_CI\_Mood-Bilder\***.jpg)

Sincerely

Olivier

    Right! I didn't see that.

The Problem is, we have some other Documents in other Network-Drives as well wich are not integrated in the Adobe Cloud Files system.

But many thanks for your advice an help

    Sincerely

    Olivier

    PS. nice week-end!

You would have to rethink your file management to get any cloud based system to work. Dropbox would have the same problem.

You could imagine one machine in an organization group holding all of the InDesign projects and assets which is sync'd to the Adobe Cloud Server. Then individual folders on that internal "server" are shared with "clients" as needed. The clients would only sync to the project folders they are working on. With disk space running at $25 a terabyte it wouldn't be impossible.

CC syncing works the same way as Dropbox syncing—to get the linking to work you will have to include the InDesign file along with the linked assets inside of the shared folder.

So here if I share LinkedLayout and make changes to the files and folders inside, the files will show a green check mark when they have finished syncing. As long as I only link to assets inside of the LinkedLayout folder users sharing the folder will see the links' status as OK when they open Test after the syncing is complete.

    Hi Rob

Thanks for the quick answer! OK this makes sense, its the same like packing an indesign-document.

Sadly we have a more complex structure/wish. We would like to store the picture-folder globally, and have several indesign-documents using the same folder... Where the document files are saved in different places

In your example, the images would been placed in "Rob's Images".

Guess I have to find another solution, I was already afraid, that Adobe didn't consider this way of usage.

I don't see why that wouldn't work as long as you share both folders and they stay in the parent Creative Cloud Files folder.
