import/place multiple page PDF InDesign

My understanding is that importing/placing a PDF with multiple pages into InDesign has gone through some recent revisions. I'm not looking to convert the PDF into ID objects...just place each page of the PDF into an ID doc as-is. No script necessary.

I'm am able to make a bunch of individual PDF files from the multiple page PDF and import those one at a time. Thank works fine.

I was able to import the first few pages of the multiple page PDF but it just stops importing after a bit.
